La Cachette, Louisiana, is the worst place to be if you have something to hide. This was an intense and very exciting read.A teen girl disappears from her small town deep in the bayou, where magic festers beneath the surface of the swamp like water rot, in this chilling debut supernatural thriller for fans of Natasha Preston, Karen McManus, and Rory Power.

Grey has a long journey ahead of her if she wants the answers to all her questions and as she takes her journey, she learns that there are a ton more questions that she needs to figure out answers to as well. She needs to know if she is still alive or dead and if so, who killed her? Grey just wants to find out what happened to Elora. They make each other whole so I can't imagine what it feels like to lose part of that. They can feel each other's feelings and their souls. Both born at the same exact time but to different parents. They are 2 parts to a soul for each other. She starts getting her powers, she meets a mysterious boy named Zale, and all the while she is trying to piece together what happened to her best friend, her twin flame, Elora. So much happens during Greys visit back to her old home in the swamps of La Cachette, Louisiana. They were each born about the same time and during a powerful time at that. They call the 10 kids, her friends, The summer children. However, she starts having vision type things and so she is thinking she just might be getting a power. She was born out of 10 kids during the summer and each of them have some type of psycic powers but not her. I am definitely going to be reading more from this author! I really like the MC, Grey, she was an awesome character. There were so many twists and turns, and the ending was so unexpected it had me saying OMG OMG OMG!
